The First Annual LSDA Members Meeting to be held on June 7th
Below is detailed information about our Annual Meeting and Election procedures. Please take the time to read over everything so you can participate in our group! However, in summary of the information below, please note these action items:
– Nominate yourself or others for board positions by May 24th
– June 7th – Save the date!…for our workshop, meeting, and a dance that evening
– Note – Only members may nominate and vote for board positions but all are welcome at our annual meeting. But if you do become a member your voting rights are effective immediately!
We will be having our first Annual LSDA Members meeting on June 7th. It will be held at The Courthouse Athletic Club (1 Courthouse Drive) from 4-5pm following the monthly workshop. At the meeting we will:
- Review the general activities from 2013 and those planned for 2014
- Review the financial activities from 2013 and those planned for 2014
- Review the list of LSDA Member privileges
- Give opportunity for members to express any opinions
- Elect new board members
Election of Board Members
Once the list of nominees has been sent out on May 31st (see details below), members may email their votes to email@example.com. Members may also vote in person on June 7th by ballot at the Annual Meeting, or may submit a vote by proxy by turning in a signed ballot the week before the meeting or by having someone deliver it at the Annual Meeting.
Nomination of Board Members
We are currently accepting nominations for board positions (you can nominate yourself). We will be accepting nominations up through the 24th of May and a full list of nominees will be sent out by the 31st of May.
Per the current LSDA by-laws, to be nominated for the board you must have been a member for at least 8 months and be interested in promoting the well-being of LSDA and its dances. However, the 8 month requirement may be waived upon review by the current board with consideration given to members who have shown initiative, interest, or have previous organizational experience, so if you are interested in running for a board position and you have not been a member for 8 months yet, please still apply.
Board Member Duties
If you accept your nomination and are elected for the board you will serve for one year unless re-elected. Generally, the board determines the overall policy and direction of the organization and helps to fulfill annual objectives. The board executes the day-to-day activities of the organization or delegates these activities to staff and/or committees.
Please review the descriptions of board positions at this link. Consider not only if you would like to run for a position but also if there are other members who would be good for these positions and consider nominating them.
Please send your nominations to firstname.lastname@example.org and list the position and member whom you would like to nominate. Or you may submit your request in writing to the registration desk at any LSDA sponsored event.
